FAQ
Q: How are the programs in Fredericksburg and Abilene different?
A: The recovery program in Fredericksburg is identical to the program in Abilene. That said, there are a few differences in the locations themselves. The facility in Fredericksburg is smaller than its Abilene counterpart (it does not offer detoxification services) and it is also located in a country setting. Transportation is provided in Fredericksburg, to both the health club and off-site support meetings.

Q: How will my transportation be managed?
A: All clients in need of detox must first arrive in Abilene to go through detoxification. If the ultimate treatment site is Fredericksburg, the Serenity staff will transport the patient to the site, when the doctors and nurses have approved departure.

Q: Is Serenity a coed facility?
A. Yes.

Q: Should I bring my car?
A: You will not be using your car while at Serenity, so it is best not to bring it at all. Serenity will provide all necessary transportation during your stay.

Q: Do I have to share a room?
A: All of our rooms are semi-private. There are two sinks in each room, with a toilet and shower located between each two rooms.

Q: Why can’t we bring cell phones, laptops, video games, iPods, or other electronic devices?
A: While at Serenity your total focus should be on capturing the tools necessary to acquire and retain sobriety. These items are restricted, in order to eliminate unnecessary distractions during this intensive time of recovery.

Q: Is there an exercise or weight room? How about a swimming pool?
A: Twice each week our clients in both Abilene and Fredericksburg are provided access to a health club. They will not, however, have access to a pool.

Q: Can we smoke while in treatment?
A: Yes. Smoking is allowed in designated locations at our treatment centers.

Q: What is a typical day like?
A: Classes and individual counseling sessions are scheduled along with meals, personal time and chores to fill a day from 6:30am until 10:30pm.

Q: Why do I have to remove my body piercings?
A: Our goal is to deliver the tools for lifelong sobriety to everyone who comes to us. In order to do this, it is best to eliminate anything that might be a distraction, including body piercings.

Q: What should I bring? What can’t I bring to Serenity?
A: When you are accepted for admission, we will gladly go over what is and is not allowed on our premises.

Q: Do you take dual-diagnosed clients?
A: Yes… subject to our physician and staff’s approval.

Q: Do you have someone on staff who speaks Spanish?
A: Yes. There is a Spanish speaker at each of our facilities.

Q: When can my friends and family come to visit me?
A: Saturday and Sunday there are scheduled times for visitation.
